Escobar vs Pierzynski

Watching WGN right now.

Angels vs White Sox. I was not paying too much attetion until Pierzynski came to bat. The Sox announcers said Escobar has been quoted as saying he was going to get Pierzynski. So, big surprise! Escobar hit him.

Just like when Mesa hit Vizquel, there was not an immediate ejection but there WAS a warning.

Now, the warning means that the Plate Ump thinks it was intentional. Since both pitchers said they were going to do it, why not eject them as soon as it happened or warn them BEFORE they do it?

It seems like the way they handled these two situations, it gave one team a free shot.

umpires cant just start giving out pre-warnings because of hearsay.

I am not sure what Escobar said but, Mesa said he would hit Omar every time. That is not hearsay.

yeah i was only talking about escobar, so my statement only works for that situation. even with what mesa said, i really dont think you can start the game with warnings. i might be wrong, but i just cant see that happening.

i dont carry pre-thoughts into my games. when the first pitch is thrown, everyone is eating off of a clean plate.
