Champion Chest Protector

I've been looking for an inexpensive chest protector for my 16 year old son. He'll be working only small diamond games this Summer so it didn't have to be the best. I found this one for under $45.00 and was curious if anyone here had ever seen or used one. I'd also like to know if anyone here has had any dealings with this company. Their prices seem pretty reasonable.

Anaconda sells it for $33.95, but it shows "out of stock". You might want to give them a call.

I haven't had any dealings with either company, sorry.

Thanks for the link. I checked the site and they have the 17" model in stock for only a dollar more!

Tim,

Why don't you just buy your son a quality CP so when he moves up to big boy baseball, he doesn't have to buy a brand new CP- saving you guys an extra $45 in the long run?

Well, because he's 16 and who knows what he'll want to do next year. I figure it'll be worth the $35.00 even if he tears it up in a couple of years on the small diamond rather than spend $100.00 on a protector he might not use if he doesn't move up.

Tim,

Unless Zach is your size, a 17 inch model may be too long, don't you think? That model is for us full-figured gals.;)

I could be wrong, however, I believe this is basically Honig's Pro-Elite CP.

Chest Protector for son = $35.00

vs

Broken Clavicle/Sternum/Rib(s)

There are reasons why some equipment costs less. I bought a $40.00 helmet for my granddaughter when my wife bought her a bicycle. Protect those that don't know what real pain is, that's your job, Dad. You can always sell the gear to another.

or...'a penny wise'...

Trust me, this ain't no K-1. The Champion is just like the Pro-Nine offering. It looks like the K-1, but it ain't even close to the quality, and I've seen all three.

For what Tim wants, the Champion will be fine.

You can get a hard shell for a few bucks more.

I know a couple of umpires that have this protector and it works well for lower levels of 90 foot.

Thanks,

Do we need to rate the protectors against thrown bats? Does wood vs. metal matter?
