SIGNAL to Partner

What signal if any do you give to your partner when you know you made a mistake, and you are wanting him to help "bail you out"?

I worked with a guy last week who had one of these, and I am currious if this is something everyone has or just some. It is the first time i have heard about it.

These are generally a bad idea, as savvy coaches pick up on them quite easily and know what you are doing. Just another tool in their kitbag to make your life hell. :D

If you have doubts on a 'reversible' call, go conference with your partner and ask if he can add any information. Then you can change your own call if you think its warranted.

On other calls, you just have to live with it, as Clint said in "Unforgiven." Do better next time.

On a pulled foot and so on, you can just ask your partner openly if he has something different....some umps here advocate (as the BU) asking the PU if the foot was pulled before making their initial call at 1B, for example.

What kind of mistake are you referring to?

Mistake?

I thought I made a mistake once, but I was mistaken!:p

Actually, I did have a partner that told me this:

"When a coach asks me to go to you for an appeal, If I go to you right away, then make the call the way you saw it. If I make the coach ask me for the appeal twice, then make the call the way I called it!"
