Why were they working 3-man in San Fran Tonight?
 

Anyone know why? Will there be a fill-in there for tomorrow if they are able to play?

Reliford is injured. There was a fill-in umpire added to the crew today. This is per the TBS (Atlanta Braves) announcers.

Reliford is injured again,he didnt work the past two months of last season because he was injured.

Reliford's normal crew rotation is: Reliford, Vanover, Gibson, and Nauert, from home to third.

My question from this situation is this: Were they not able to get Armendariz to San Francisco in time for Friday's night game, which was delayed nearly two hours by rain? Because, as a result of Reliford's injury, Nauert got two plate jobs in this series.

As far as the doubleheader went in Philadelphia earlier today, turns out that they used Laz Diaz in place of a regular AAA fill-in (James Hoye) to fulfill the five-man crew now regularly used in doubleheaders.

Tim Tschida would have worked Game 1 at first, obviously giving way to an AAA fill-in, who would work third in Game 2, while Tschida would have the plate. Diaz, having worked the plate Friday night, would obviously be scheduled for third in Game 1.

Instead, Diaz played the AAA fill-in. Hoye worked third in Game 1, filling in for Diaz, technically speaking, and second in Game 2, again, filling in for Diaz, technically speaking. But Tschida had Game 1 off, and Reed had Game 2 off.

where do you people get the time to follow and theorize about the rotations of crews and such?

Last weekend I worked a double header but with two different partners. I was assigned bases for the first game and then plate for the second. Now why wouldn't the fresh guy work the plate in the second game?

You should be able to answer that question yourself, DG.

Last weekend was the first weekend of the month. Now, we all know that when you work a double header on the first weekend of the month the umpire on the bases from the previous game gets the dish on the second game with the new partner. Any other weekend of the month the fresh guys gets the dish, unless it's leap year, in which case the first guy who you worked the first game with has to stay and work a three man for the next game, then the the umpire who did the dish has to flip for it to see who works the dish.

Sir, please see the explanation I provided earlier.

Maybe the same reason that an MiBL blue wrote in an email.. The replacement is a scrub that is not as good as the actual blue so stick him at 3rd where he could do the least amount of damage. Yes an MiBL ump wrote that concerning the fill in at for the striking Mibl blues.

In reality the crew prolly decided on what would work best for them and went from there. Other than that no reason I imagine.

I heard from his assigned stalker that his rental car reservation was lost.
