Situation. Runner on first 2 outs. Batter pops up in foul territory toward the first base dugout. The pitcher hauls a$$ after the ball and at the same time the batter runner is running down the line in the baseleine. There is slight contact that causes the pitcher to lose his balance and subsequently not make the catch. Is that interference, or do you just let it go. In this situation, who holds more liablity for contact?

It's interference. The fielder is tracking the ball kooking up and has no way to protect himself. So the runner is responsible to avoid the contact. He can go around or stop and let the fielder pass.

Sounds like it could have been a "train wreck"
if everything arrived at once, but if not, then Michael is correct. |
Thanks fellas. That's what I thought it should be.
