I was just curious if anybody had any idea on the following. Charlie Reliford and Jim Joyce have been out for a while now. Does anybody know if the two of them would be considered for a playoff assignment despite the time they have missed. It seems that they are main stays when it comes to the post season. Does anybody have any idea if MLB takes into account injuries when assigning post season umpires?

I doubt that they would be considered. I don't know what the precedent is for injured guys working the playoffs, but I think Jim Joyce has missed about a month now, and Charlie is close to that, as is Brian Runge. I'm sure if you wanted to look back you could and see how this has been handled before. Did Derryl Cousins work anything last year- I know he was hurt for a while.
