p. 64 #1 and #2 (FED)

1)B1 squares to bunt, but the pitch is outside. He steps on home plate and hits a fair ball with his foot on the ground entirely out of the batter's box.

a. B1 is out.
b. The ball remains live.
c. The ball is dead.

Answer shows A. (for FED)

2) Same as question one, but B1's foot is partially in the batter's box when he steps on the plate.

a. B1 is out.
b. The ball remains live.
c. The ball is dead.

Answer shows A & C. (for FED)

My question is, why isn't question #1 both A & C? What am I missing or is there a typo? Thanks in advance.

A Referee rules quiz is wrong. Well that is a first.

Should be A and C.
This is my point when a "respected" umpire/official magazine continually puts out bad info.
1 more nail in the coffin of me not getting Referee magazine.

Okay, so if you don't want REFEREE don't subscribe! There's more to the magazine than the tests that everyone pi$$es and moans about. I'll tell you what, go look at your car, boat and (especially) Do-It-Yourself magazines. There are plenty of errors there. If you feel the answers are wrong, by all means post them here so we can all go through them, then send the correction into REFEREE if you want.

Thank you, I read it about a million times and thought I was either missing one little word or it was a typo.

Thanks again.

Matthew,

In OBR the answers are:

1) A & C

2) B

I have catchers "questioning" #2 at least a couple times each year trying to have the batter called out - adult league, OBR. I thought this was a good opportunity to have another FED/OBR difference pointed out.

Semantics here, but technically #1 isn't wrong, just doesn't give the complete answer. However it does give a correct partial answer.

AMEN!!!

I subscribe to Referee Magazine and I do not get the magazine to take the tests. Half the times I read the articles I forget to even look at the tests. I get the articles so I can read the information and the interviews that are posted. I have also subscribed to many other magazines over the years and there are many mistakes or information you can find any other place. That is what happens when human beings do things, they make mistakes every now and then. Everyone stand up who has never made a mistake on the field from the first day you put on your baseball equipment.

Peace

I used to subscribe. The football section is good (although the quizzes have similar problems to that mentioned here). The baseball section was apparently entirely written by Rollie, both the mechanics tips and the quizzes.
