Un-freaking-believable!

Any Blue here ever had an argument with an X-Box player before?

"You're gone- and take your joystick with ya"!

One of those teams outta give me a call. I was playing that game last night beating the Red Sox 25-0 after 4 innings with the Reds :).

Sorta off topic, but there are people who make a living playing video games. There are a few people that make better money than most of us by playing Halo 2. This kind of promotion could start a trend. An ugly one at that.

P.S. during a replay, you can bring your manager out of the dugout to argue a call and get tossed. :D

I guess whatever gets folks to the ballpark...

But why don't they let one player from each team play the game instead of letting a couple of local nerds that probably care nothing about baseball decide the outcome of a professional game?

aevans410 Fri Jun 24, 2005 09:56am

IMO, it shows me that the money that the owners can make by doing something as stupid as this far outweighs the respect that they have for the game.

drumbum565 Fri Jun 24, 2005 10:59am

I think its terrible... just terrible, that can’t be legal. Can it?

aevans410 Fri Jun 24, 2005 11:14am

If the league says they can do it, then they can. Who's gonna stop em?

Buckeye12 Fri Jun 24, 2005 11:48am

If the manager or a player gets tossed in the first two innings of the "simulated" game, is he permitted to return to the dugout for the final seven innings?

drumbum565 Fri Jun 24, 2005 02:01pm

Good question. I wonder how they will do that. But i say that if they want to make the 2 innings count i say they should have ejections count also.

This is why I would not have anything to do with the Northern league. No respect for the game. What happens if a team is losing 20-0 after the 2 innings and them fails to make playoffs by a half game (if they have playoffs up there). Where is the thrill of the game if it is a slaughter after 2 innings for the rest of the game? You think a player will be motivated being down a ton of runs in a game started by a computer game? What a joke!

They are doing this for the wrong Kansas City team. Perhaps if they did this for the Royals a few times then they won't finish 50 games out of first place!

As someone who has attended many Northern League games, I vehemently disagree. If anything, there is more respect, because they understand how to keep baseball entertaining through extraneous showmanship while integrating it into the game at hand (unlike giveaways and other stuff done at the major-league level). They understand that baseball, at the professional level, exists to entertain people. Attend a Saints game for once. You might actually enjoy it.

This particular promotion (playing the first two innings on a video game) has been cancelled.

sounds to me like like the umpiring crew will get two innings worth of entertainment and have to actually only work work 7 of 9 innings.

Well then, what's the incentive of going to the game now? :D
