I know i changed the subject its just thats why i disagree with there not being a rule like that in OBR, because of situations like that.

But there IS a rule, and it tells us to "Oops, play on."

I don't like that though because example there is a second base umpire (BU. The batter hits a line drive no chance for a play by second or short stop. The ball would roll out for an easy single and close double, however the line drive is so fast the BU has no time to duck or move and it hits him. second base gets the ball that was knocked down and then throws the runner out at first. See what i mean?
Assuming the ball did not pass a fielder other than the pitcher the ball is immediately dead and BR is awarded first. Runners remain at bases TOP unless forced to advance because of BR award. Same play fielders playing in Ball goes past fielders and hits BU ball is live play on.

In OBR on the play you described it is Umpire interference. There is a rule, it is discussed.

Batted ball before infielder is UI - penalty has been explained twice now.
Thrown ball, or batted ball past infielder it is a bruise, to body and ego for the umpire, that is all, Oops, play on. The umpire becomes a fixture of the game, the ball hit a fence, that is all.

Please start to read the posts you write and those that are sent back to you. You are obviously a newer umpire who wants to learn, I commend that, but the key to learning is to listen to others.

There are many many here that know a great deal, way more than me and if you start to ignore what people are saying these helpful individuals will never help you. And worse yet may never help me because they will stop comming here. So please, take my advise to heart, I have read this site almost daily through the spring and summer for almost 3 years, look the number of messages I have typed, Read and learn for awhile. You don't have near enough experience to write responses, or argue with guys here. Ask all the questions you want, but seriously, stop arguing with the answers you get.

Not correct -- this rule (umpire hit by a batted ball) is the same in all levels.
