Just curious, do most carry insurance for doing Babe Ruth and summer leagues?

You better not ever set foot on a field without insurance coverage.
I have ABUA as well as a $1M umbrella policy from State Farm. I hope that nothing ever happens to me or anyone else for that matter that would necessitate having to use our insurance policies. Bob P. |
Associations usually carry policies for their members - check with the secretary if you belong to one. Also, many homeowners policies include a personal liability policy (or offer one), and that's a worthwhile investment too.
Remember: when (not if) injury happens in our country, lawyers often get involved, and lawyers always name as many parties as they can think of to the lawsuit. You might not have any judgment awarded against you, but the legal fees for defending yourself can run into tens of thousands of dollars - and that's quite a few game fees, at least where I work. Liability insurance covers the cost of legal defense, plus any judgment that might go against you. I would not step on the field without adequate liability insurance. |

I have my association insurance and ABUA insurance. I just feel better knowing that I have it. I also hope I never have an occasion to use it.....when my son registered to umpire PONY league, I made sure he had it as well..........I believe it was an extra $20, but for that price I was willing to go for it.........
