Anybody watch the Mets/Braves game last night. 8th inning, Wright clearly made an illigal slide to break up the DP.
Jeff Nelson nailed the call. After that, I think Wright was more pissed at himself for the slide that the call.

Why does it seem to me that the more money you make playing this game, the sillier players think thay can act when they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar?

Wright got EJ'd for launching his helmet.

I saw that call. He was right on the money and had some big stones to make it and negate the tying run. Definitely the correct call.

Agree 100%. Wright made absolutely no attempt to slide to the base, his entire intention was to crash the Braves' shortstop, who was a good 5 feet toward right-center field. I don't think he could have reached out with a bat and touched second as far away as he was.

I believe that's one of the most clear-cut case of interference I've ever seen on a play like that.

I agree with everyone that it was a good call. Same goes for the runner interference call on LoDuca when he hit that dribbler down the 1b line and he got nailed in the back as he was clearly on the infield grass. He looked like he was putting up enough whine for a huge chunk on cheese. Not sure who the plate was on that one but he nailed it.

Reading the New York papers after that game, the Mets never said the call was wrong, just that it shouldn't have been made in such an important situation in a tight ballgame.

I was just wondering what other rules they want to throw out in important situations and tight games ?????

Yeah, after all they're just RECOMMENDED rules of the game.

That whole "ball over the plate is a strike" thing should be just a guideline in the late innings.

it was just a 'guideline' for Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine for years :D
