Hey guys. Now that I'm going to start working more high school level ball, I need to invest in a good pair of plate shoes. Any reccomendations on ones that offer good protection and are comfortable and preferably have a price tag under 100 bucks? Give me your favorites please!

I have used the Spot Built "high top" for the past 4 years and have been pleased with it. I prefer the higher shoe to keep some of the dust out of my shoes. I got mine at http://www.btlofficialsgear.com/, but I have seen them at several umpire supply places.

There's nothing wrong with the Riddell. I wore them and liked them until this year whenever I upgraded to the Gerry Davis Patent Leather.

I just got the Spot Built "low top." I didn't like the feel of the high top shoe, and it actually runs about 10 dollars cheaper than the "high top." Even though it's not patent leather, it shines up really well ith Armor All.

For under $100 you are limited in choices. My son has a pair of Riddell Chiefs. They are mid-top, not high or low, just in between. He says they are comfortable and he can make them shine very easily.
