I need some help on what you can put on a car tag to show you are an umpire without saying you are an umpire. The type tag I have only allows 5 letters. Any input is appreciated.

CANT C, CALL M, UR OUT, STRIKE, 643, BLUE, BALL 4,

I really wanted to put CANT C on mine but my kids really didn't like it so I ended up with BOX OUT as I do alot of basketball.

Ozzy, I was thinking the same thing.

When i do park games I park with my truck so no one can see my tag and high school games we park behind the outfield fence. I know what yall are thinking. This is why I'm not putting ump44 on the tag.

I like Steven Wright's suggestion. Order a personalized plate with 5 random numbers and letters.

I have a good friend with RNG EM UP as a plate. Coincidence that his car got keyed during a game last season? I have toyed with getting a personalized plate, but it would have NOTHING to do with officiating.

After a very difficult game when he came out after his shower and dressing he found his car not only on its roof but it was also on fire.

I would suggest strongly against advertising you are the ump . . . in fact all my gear is in my trunk and not visable through windows of my car.

I'm pretty sure it has to be all letters then numbers or all numbers then letters. (Unless you're an Amateur Radio operator ;))


Either way, I agree that it's probably best you don't. I'm like Tee, all my gear is in the back covered. Now some would probably argue that most people probably are aware that most officials get dressed at the game site -- some might even know exactly where but I cover it anyways.

Check the other web-site. One of the threads there describes the contents of T's trunk(i.e., a he11 of a lot of stuff).

All my equipment is in the trunck also. I generally lay my clothes on the back seat, unless I need the room for passengers and then put it in the trunk. I have also traveled to games with my equipment and my partner's equipment in the trunk.

My trunk looks like an officials supply store as i do all high school sports execpt football. ;) I am also a ham raido operator ( I saw the wink from above, are you?).

Mine says CMCALLM. I don't worry about someone vandalizing it - the Baseball Hall of Fame bumper sticker is also a giveaway that I'm into the game, and my gear inside is a tipoff that I umpire. If you live in a civilized state you don't worry about attacks. ;)

My plates are the same as my name in here. OUTATHM. have had them for three years with no problems. It could be that when people see the car they realize that they can't really do anything to make it worse than it already is, LOL.

It also helos to get onto base, ( I live in Norfolk), when the games take me there. The guards don't even ask me why I'm there, the plates say it all.
