I just called the office of the commish to get myself a free copy of the 2005 Umpire Media Information Guide, but where can I get a copy of the Major League Baseball Umpire's Manual?

Well,

(1) Meet and become friends with an MLB Umpire. Ask him to supply you the past year's version he no longer uses.

(2) View a number of websites that deal with umpiring and see if someone offers to send you a purloined copy.

Say Tee:
About #2, you looking for a place to "recycle" an older version of the MLBUM after your contact(s) replace it with a slightly less out of date version? I promise I'll give it a good home: even smear it occasionally with that Delaware river mud.

What was that office of the commmisoner's number? and ask for who? thanks.

Aww man, odds of me befriending an umpire don't look so hot. Oh well. If you'd like to call the Commish, call 212-931-7800 and they will give you a fax number, apparently they need to request in writing. Make sure you ask for the 2005 Umpires Media Information Guide. The fellow I talked to was named Mike....good luck!!

Hahaha, I'll let you know in 3-4 weeks. In all honesty, I don't know what it will include, we shall see!!

11 x 17, 24 x 36, 36 x 48, how huge does the check need to be?

For less than $100 I can get a PBUC, a BRD, an NCAA Study Guide, and a J/R. I get the Fed Rules and Case Book when I register. MLBUM is for major league umpires. Good luck.

Maybe so, but I do get one every year. It does contain numerous official interpretations that apply to any level utilizing OBR.

The MLB Umpires Media Guide is exactly what it sounds like. It is a PR book that lists all the biographies of the current umpires, notable games (perfect games, no-hitters, etc) and who was on the plate, Roster of umpires from the beginning of baseball, all MLB parks' ground rules, general duties and responsiblities of the umpires, etc. All kinds of useless information to anyone except a broadcaster or an Amateur Baseball Umpire. And for us it is still useless, but we are entertained.
