Question

I have a young umpire (16 yrears old) who I would like to have move up into the better ball but he has a problem.

His feet are a size 17 and he is haveing trouble finding shoes.

If anyone knows where he can get plate shoes in this size I would greatly appriciate the help.

I don't feel he can work anything more than the lowere levels safely without the proper protection, but he is deff. ready to move up.

Suggest that he do a web search of "metatarsal guard" shoes/boots. I'm not sure about his large size, but there are several black shoes/boots sold on work/safety sites that are appropriate for plate work. A few brands are Nautilus, Converse, LeHigh. Last resort is buying steel or composite toe safety shoes and adding lace-on metatarsal guards. No reason why this young man should not be able to umpire safely.
