Mark from Louisiana called to correct my numbers in Play 71-244. Please correct as follows: "In NCAA, when the umpires admit their error, they will cancel R2's out. Instead, B1 is out, R2 is back on second, and R3 scores." If you wish, you can note that R1 remains on first.

That's because under the NCAA interpretation, runners get what they get but outs are canceled.

In another forum someone wrote that already identifed and posted were 56 errors (or so) in fewer than 56 pages. I haven't found that list, and other than Mark, nobody has reported any typos to me.

There is NO play 73-244; there is a play 73-245 but that is in the next section. The play containing your words appears to be 71244 [note no hyphen; another typo error?].

How 'bout this one?

BRD Note 151: "The college wooden bat may be up to six inches longer than the college metal bat..."

BUT, since the maximum length of the NCAA metal bat has been reduced to 35 inches (BRD Section 170) and the maximum length of the NCAA wood bat is 42 inches (BRD Section 174), hasn't the maximum difference changed to SEVEN inches?

You pointed out a hypen mistake last time, and I was -- I think -- justifiably unimpressed.

I certainly want to thank you for showing me this one. Indeed, the seven inches you speak of is not correct. But that's because I have misprinted the length of the metal bat. It is not 35 inches, as I state in Section 170, but 36 inches, as Bob Jenkins carefully points out.

For owners of the BRD please correct the first NCAA <b.ALSO</b> as follows:<ul>The maximum length of a non-wood bat is 36 inches, diameter, 2 5/8 inches; weight, not more than 3 units less than the length; for example, a 36-inch bat could not weight less than 33 ounces.</ul>

I intend to collect all of the known typos into an ERRATA sheet. Everyone who is a registered owner will get that Sheet by April 1. (That should give all the eagle eyes a chance to find mistakes.)

I know it's a hard thing to do but read the post VERY carefully next time. The reference WAS the BRD Section 170 noted. I too knew IT was incorrect also. :cool:

I believe I speak for a large number of people on this forum. If you don't have meaningful corrections, logical discussion material, or truely a desire to better yourself and other officials please go to another site. I am very tired of people taking shots at Carl and others who are providing meaningful information to the rest of us. If you have nothing better to do than to try and start shit, go elsewhere. I joined this forum to have REAL baseball discussions. Even the EWS group posts rules based discussions most of the time. Let's talk baseball and leave the sewing circle shit out of it.
