Why does the ordering site require one to register? Other ordering sites give the option of registering ("for ease of future orders") or just entering the ordering / shipping information.

I've also tried the 888 number to no avail.

The 888 number is handled by Teresa Romero now. I'm sure you'll find it's answered all day from 9:00 until 4:00. I've called it many times in this holiday week, always with a prompt answer.

Perhaps your calls date back to the previous assistant.

I also attempted to order and and was told that my order "can only be placed if you give us this information" . . .

This web page has consistantly over the years attempted to get us to buy a membership. Now they have something of value and it cannot be purchased unless you give them the link to bombard you with spam.

This kills me . . . I have never had this requirement from any on line company.

I don't like giving my email address out either. One solution I have used is to use multiple email addresses. I have one address on my ISP and then I use 2 accounts from Yahoo! One account is used only for potential spamming registrations. I rarely check it (once a week or so) and I use the other accounts for work and my home business.

I guess I'll have to email Brad, too. I called the 888 number today and the phone was answered. Unfortunately, a shipping address and valid credit card weren't sufficient to procure a copy. While the author may well not care, he lost a sale because the distributor is asking for information (i.e., my email address) completely irrelevant to a simple buy/sell contract.

I must be getting old. How I long for the days when all it took to purchase something was the asking price.

Why would they need an email? Makes no sense, I was going to order one today, but I don't like to give my email to just anyone.

My credit cards have come up with a virtual number that I use on the internet where no one can actually have my account number, but email is a little different. I wonder if they send you a receipt by email and then you have to reply to it to make the order go through?

The sign up is free for OFFICIATING.COM and if you receive any email, you can click "remove from list" at the bottom of the message AND THEY DO REMOVE YOU FROM THE LIST!

I've been using the service for years just to get the BRD and nothing else. I get an occasional email from them but nothing like spam.

I think that you guys are just being a bunch of whining babies. Get over yourselves - it's not that big a deal!

Obviously you are one of the web user in the system that has not had problems with certain issues.

Tim, I wasn't singling you out (I've always respected your opinions). The boards (and I mean all of them) have turned from a responsible conduit of information to a bunch of pi$$ers and moaners. If you don't want to give out your email that is your wish. It just seems petty with the amount of information that is flying around out there about all of us. I work in the communications industry so believe me, this is a petty thing.
