Seeing how MLB players are changing uniforms these days left and right....has anybody heard if MLB will be or already has hired any new umpires for next season to be full time MLB umpires?
|
Not that I have heard. I wonder how much longer guys like Froemming and Brinkman will stick around. Its amazing how long they have been around.

This is a contract year. Umpires normally do not retire during a contract year. If they do, they may not qualify for any increase in benefits.
|
And,
We do know now what AAA guys were released.
But that is all, Tee |
I heard that they really cleaned house in the minors this year. Sounds like a great year for those going to umpire school (like myself). Tim C, where can I see which AAA umpires were released?
|
I am not sure if they publish minor league umpires being released, because of the sensitivity involved. However, the umpires released would be all set if they wanted to work any level of college baseball.

I may be wrong on this but it seems to me that dealing with pro players and managers would be more difficult than collage (and I have seen ugly in collage) as out there the pro players are arguing for a pay check where as collage players are not. Managers are a wash.

The college game and the pro game are totally different especially the interaction with the managers, coaches and players. Sometimes, the pro guys find it hard to make the transition "down" to college, not because they don't have the skills but rather making the mental adjustment. I know here in the Midwest, our supervisor does not show favoritism to anyone regardless of experience. Ofcourse, they may be fast tracked to D-I but they still have to start at the D-III level and work you're way up until you prove yourself.
