Situation: No outs, R3. BR hits slow roller toward 1B. F3 fielded that ball while R3 is heading home. BR noticing F3 is going after him stopped and then make few steps back in attempt to delay tag on him. F3 give up on tagging BR and throw home - wide. R3 got home and BR to 1B. End. Now - what is the correct rulling. Some umpires say that runner can't run backward if he is forced to run forward (seems logical), but I can't find out anything about it in rules. Thanks very much for help.
PS: Sorry my poor english.

Result? Score R3 and B1 stays on first. B1 can retreat toward home as long as he doesn't touch home plate. If he does, he is out. As far as other runners runnig backwards during play action, there is nothing wrong with that. Umpires that think this is against the rules need to put some time into reading the rules.

Isn't that a SOFTBALL RULE that if you run back towards home plate, your automatically out?

Right on, Kaliix. Rule 8-2-8 in FED for the game with the larger ball states "The batter-runner shall be called out when...The batter runner steps back toward home plate to avoid or delay a tag by a fielder." Ozzy's got the right ruling on the baseball side.
