Runner on 3rd - two outs. Batter puts ball in play down the first base line, R3 takes off towards home. Pitcher fields ball and "TAGS" the batter/runner on his way to first "AFTER" R3 crosses the plate.

Does the run count due to a tag? Or does this constitute a force out becuase the batter/runner needs to progress past first.

And if someone could site the OBR rules that would be most helpful. Got a "gentleman's" bet with someone.

No run scores on a play where a player who was forced is retired or the Batter is retired before reaching first base (not technically a forceplay).
