I have worked the high school season and started the legion season. I know NFHS rules on FPSR and I see that the legion has adopted a kind of FPSR. Now the $1 question. I am going to be working a Babe Ruth tourney next week. Does Babe Ruth play under any type of FPSR? Are there other rule deviations that are relevant?

What is FPSR?
I can't even spell it, ...no less identify it.

Sorry. I thought most people on this board worked FED games and would be familiar with the term.

Now that I know what FPSR stands for, yes there is a Malicious Contact rule in Babe Ruth which I think was modified for this year. They do not put the rules on the internet (el cheepo's) so you have to get a copy. By the way, I do FED & above and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out FPSR either!

Your doing a tournament and no one has given you the rules your playing by ???????????????

As an assignor, that was the FIRST thing I made sure our umpires knew about, the rules.

SOMEONE has to have the rules. Otherwise make sure you go over all the important points at the begining of the first game. Better yet get their early and talk to the Tournament Director. I would hope that he could help .

I do a lot of B/R games, never have seen a copy of the rules, have never had a problem except probably with my judgment.

We use OBR and the only exception I have found is the slide or avoid rule. The way we work it, the FPSR is part and parcell of the slide or avoid. The runner must slide OR avoid, not only contact but also interfering with the play. I'm sure that if you do Fed, we don't have it in this State, you'll know the rule. G.

IF you register with Babe Ruth baseball, they will send you the rules, or you can just buy the rules online. BRB plays OBR as far as FPSR is concerned, ie you need to be able to be in reach of the bag when you slide. They do have malicious contact at home only though.
