does it become obstruction?

Second baseman is fielding a throw from the catcher on a steal attempt. 2B in in the base path so that runner cannot get directly to the base standing up nor by sliding.

That would have to be a "HUGE" second baseman.

Most of the time the runner is trying to slide to the back of the bag on the steal so it would be hard to be completely in the way??

haven't seen that one yet. (g)

At the point when the runner needs to and does alter his path / speed because of the fielder and (a) OBR and FED: the fielder does not have the ball nor is in the process of fielding the ball, (b) NCAA and LL: THe fielder does not have the ball.
