I am going through the 2004 FED case book to see if there is anything new. Regarding page 13, Rule 2, 2.5.1 Situation E - Batter unitentionally hits the ball a second time in, a) b) c) etc. How can the ball ever be fair if the batter hits it twice, even unitentionally? Or am I just totally missing the point? It's been a long day so any help would be appreciated.

Off the top of my head, if the batter bunts the ball, and drops the bat, and the bat contacts the ball a second time in fair territory, fair ball, if it stays fair. If the batter bunts and the ball goes down and back up to the bat a second time, before the batter leaves the box, foul ball. I don't get (c), ie if the ball is touched by the bat (not a player) the second time and it goes foul, it is fair?
