Home run/gnd rule double
 

Fed rules. A batted ball hits the top of the outfield fence and deflects over the fence in fair territory.

I just want to make sure I am interpreting this correctly. The batter is awarded 2 bases, not a home run. I am looking at rules 2.6.2 and 8.8.3.a and in the case book 8.3.3 situation H Ruling.

It's a homerun.

I am away from my books, so I can't follow the specific references to see what you are mis-interpreting.

Not sure what I was reading either! The case book example is off the fence, off the glove, then over the fence. So 2 base award.

The rule I cited doesn’t exist, it is 8.3.3a (I wrote 8.8.3a) I find it interesting that rule 8.3.3a says over the fence in flight and 2.6.1 says the ball is in flight until it touches the ground or some object other than the fielder. Well the fence is an object other than the fielder. Yet everyone knows, hot the fence/wall and goes over, home run.
