FED Warmup Pitches Between Innings

F1 completes the top of the first inning on the mound. Before the top of the second inning, the same F1 takes the mound and takes his warmup pitches. After the pitches are complete, his coach attempts to remove him from the game before facing a batter. Is this legal in FED?

Yes, but if the new F1 requires more than three warm up pitches (eight total are allowed, the original F1 took his five), the original F1 cannot return to pitch in the game
