Had this play, did not know what to correctly do. (I did nothing).
Right handed batter. Runner on first base. Inside pitch pushes batter away, catcher misses the pitch and it rolls back towards the third base side of plate. Batter is still moving away from the plate when catcher retrieves the ball and from his knees throws toward second, but hits batter in the shoulder (well out of the box). (catcher had no chance of throwing runner out).
What might be the correct ruling?
