Balk? Windup Hands separate

NFS:

RH pitcher in "standard" windup initial position. RH inside glove. Starts standard pitching motion and removes only hand from glove (separates) and then returns the free hand back into the glove to get the ball during his windup.

Sounds like a lot of useless movements, but can he separate his hands after he starts windup and then put his hand back in his glove? or once they separate, can't go back together.

From the windup, once he begins his motion, he’s committed to pitch. No advantage gained from leaving the ball in his glove.

He's committed to pitch, but he can put his hands together or tap the free hand inside the glove as much as he wants (as long as he complies with any other restrictions).
