BAT contacting plate during swing
 
NFHS:

0-2 count.

Low pitch, batter swings downward, bat hits the plate and the ball, ball is foul. I call foul ball, but the coach screams (literally) that the bat hit the plate and the batter is out.

I know STEPPING on the plate is illegal, as is stepping OUT of box... but the bat contacting the plate??? I told the coach I had never heard that rule...

You never heard if it because it doesn't exist.

Probably should have said "no violation, coach"
