Umpire Leaves Early To Catch A Flight
 
Is this normal?


"Hensel departed soon after Jewett, leaving to catch a plane as the game finished with only two umpires."

" . . the second half of a doubleheader caused by a rainy Saturday . . "

Depends on where he had to go and what flight options there were at the time he booked them. Probably seemed safe at the time. Has a day job to get to on Monday morning.

I would hope tha assigner and the teams were made aware of the tight schedule and decided that the backup plan was to go with two umpires instead of replacing the ump on Sunday.
