NLCS Game 1

Did anybody hear what happened to Jerry Cawford last night during the NLCS Game 1? Jerry started off doing the plate, and about 1/2 way through the game RF line umpire, Mike Reiley finished off the game behind the plate.

Jerry was feeling poorly all day and tried to make a go of it. But he just could not finish the game. Mike Riley came in and you couldn't tell any difference in the way the game was called. Jerry and Mike are good friends. I have been to camps that both were instructors.

Thank you for the information. I did not see any of the game last night, so that is why I wondered about the switch.

Crawford is also not umpiring game 2. Larry Poncino has taken his place tonight.

For a playoff game, I'm surprised that MLB doesn't have a 7th ump waiting in case there's an incident like this one.

Just read on CNNSI that Crawford has pneumonia and has been replaced by Jerry Vanover. Didn't say if he would be back for any other games.
