fakes to third

Pitcher in stretch (engaged), what's the correct ruling for (in both fed & obr):
Pitcher fakes a throw to third.

MT 73 Sun Jun 11, 2017 04:09pm

In the stretch it is nothing in either code.
From the set it is only a balk in OBR

Bet you are faking him out on that one :)

In NFHS, it is not a Balk to feint to either 2nd or 3rd base. 6-2-4

In OBR, it is a balk, 8.05(b)
(OBR edited when I got access to the newer rule set) I should have known better. I have never seen it in a game since they made the Fake to 3rd, throw to First a Balk a few years ago, but I umpire under OBR exclusively, so I should have known...

6.02 (a) (2)?

OBR: Fakes to third are balks. 6.02(a)(2)

If a pitcher is engaged with the rubber, whether it's in the stretch, windup or set, a feint to third is illegal in OBR.

Since when are pitching infractions in Rule 6? Ugh, I see since 2015. My association hasn't provided rulebooks since 2014 because they haven't come out from MLB before the season is almost over.

I wasn't at home when I made my erroneous post above and apparently my android app is an old rule set. As of 2014, feints to 3rd are a balk under 8.05 (b), now 6.02 (a) (2)

It's been a couple of years. Time to get a new copy.

I know. I edited my post above but was too slow. Umpires around herehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...41e3e0704b.jpg still tote around the 2014 edition. It was still a balk back then, however.

It is annoying that my association wont provide a print version and the only digital example is a pdf. All of the FED books are on Kindle. I still have a few games left this year and will upload the pdf version to the kindle app now. I have not had any rules issues, fortunately. The rules don't change much.

Correct.
I was confusing that with something else.
