catch off the mask?

Did the catcher deflect the ball with his detached mask? If so, would that be a foul ball, or an award of bases?

This has been discussed (but perhaps not on this forum -- I forget where). The ball did not hit the mask.

If it had hit the mask, I would award three bases.
