Compression Sleeve
NFHS
What is the guidance on wearing a compression sleeve for players other than a pitcher? In 2016, the Baseball Rules Changes Slides had an "Editorial Change" discussing compression sleeve and from the first slide on the subject, it shows the digital sleeve as being illegal and leads me to believe that the sleeve must be a solid color. However, rule 1-4-2 only mentions the colors requirements for the pitcher. I believe most other NFHS sports limit compression sleeves to a solid color, black, white, gray or school color. I have attached a copy of the slides from 2016 (hopefully you can open it). Mark |

In other sports like basketball or football, players from both teams are mixed together on the field/court. So uniform rules work to maintain distinct difference visually between the two teams. In baseball, this is not a requirement. There is no restriction for both teams wearing blue because there is no problem for the umpires determining which team each player is on (hint, the one with the glove is on defense).
So NFHS is looser on uniform requirement like compression sleeves. It is only restrictive on the pitcher. |
