We don't either. But by the time F1 gets a new ball, gets back on the rubber, gets his sign, and B1 digs in, the shagger is back in (or very close to) his dugout.

and, if the ball is in live ball territory (even if it's foul), it's still "inside the lines."

He meant a helmet for a bullpen protector.

I misspoke. The casebook says it's not required.
