I'm new to the board. Have umped for about 16 years. Hung up the cleats about 6 years ago. I notched my indicators at the zero spot on B/S/O for reset. Used that for about 12 years, and went to nothing. Never used an indicator again. DTTB is right. It forces you to stay in the game. The places I called in had score boards and scorekeepers if something came up. Check the board after every pitch to make sure they got it and go on. I was doing this when I was using the indicator anyway.

Only had one instance of a coach wanting to see my indicator for the count. I checked with the scorekeeper, who had what I did. But the coach wanted to "see my clicker" . Told him I showed "my clicker" (he was getting personal) to no one and sent him on his way back to the dugout.

At first you feel naked with out it. Like when your working the plate and you get into the bottom of the first and realize you have no cup. But after a while, you gain confidence and wonder why you ever used it in the first place.

This thread led me to experiment with eschewing the indicator. After 12 games without it, I think I prefer not using one.

I hope you're referring to the indicator and not the cup!

Yes, I was referring to the indicator... I was wondering how long it was going to take before someone caught that. decided not to re-post and draw attention to it.
