Runner Interference on Force Play

Looking for thoughts on this play.
Batter-Runner called out for R1 interference on force play. Fed rules.
Umpire was overheard telling the coach that the runner must slide.
(a quick internet search reveals that runners are never required to slide; they "must slide OR avoid contact" is usually whats found --- except for some local park rules that may require slides)
I'm guessing this is dealt with in 8-4-2 -- which states "runners are never required to slide"

At least for me, it says the video is private

Sorry -- didn't press "publish" at YourTube. Should be good now.

The FED rule on force plays is a little different -- and I can't tell exactly what happened from the video.

If F6 moved to his left *because* of the actions of the runner, then this is a violation. R1 must slide or run in a directions "away" from the fielder.

If F6 was moving to his left anyway, the R1 is allowed to run straight to the bag.
