Throwing The Bat

Usually a youth league issue, sometimes into high school; I believe Little League is the only rule set that specifically calls a batter out for throwing the bat. I don't work Little League, mostly USSSA around here, and am not aware of any rule in USSSA, NFHS, NCAA or pro that specifically addresses the issue. Had someone suggest designating it as an unsportsmanlike act and calling the batter out - or ejecting them.

Any suggestions or know what rule to invoke when this happens? Have had catchers get dinged pretty good, as well as me in the shin guards. And coaches are always wanting the opposing player called out for doing it.

In HS it's a warning, and then an ejection.

This is incorrect.

Bob:

You are correct when it concerns the throwing of the bat in a careless manner.

But we all know there is the special throwing of the bat that is an automatic ejection, :D.
