Jim Joyce

Anybody have a clue what is going on with this man? He didn't work the playoffs last year, and unless he gets the WS assignment, he won't work the playoffs this year. I know that the players always vote him among the top of the best umpires, and I think he is very good, despite the whole perfect game incident that people won't let go.

So the question is, did he piss somebody off in New York? Or is he just backing out of postseason assignments, or what's the deal? I always enjoy watching him work.

Galarraga incident aside, he's been one of the best umpires for years. Not sure why he isn't getting postseason assignments.

Post season assignments are not necessarily based on merit but are on a rotation system. This is what is wrong with MLB in the first place.

Peace

Joyce worked the World Series in 2013.....he made the Middlebrooks OBS call that allowed the winning run to score.
The Gallaraga perfect game call was in 2010.

I hope your not saying the obstruction call was incorrect.

It was a very good call, and the fact Jim Joyce had the guts to make it just shows why he's at the top in my mind. Now, depending on who you ask, there are a lot of people, umpires included, that say he shouldn't have made the call. But I'm glad he did
