Don't know if anyone else noticed this, but during the Ravens/Jets game yesterday, there was an inadvertant whistle by the umpire!! Though it was covered up....here's what happened...

There was a short pass over the middle and the umpire saw holding and threw his flag and blew his whistle before the pass was complete about two yards behind him...he didn't pivot or anything...he was caught up in calling his penalty. You could see the referee come up to him and say something like "wait until the play is over!!" The IW would've been totally covered up, because the referee did a good job of just making sure the penalty was assessed and therefore the IW was ignored legally. However, it turned out the defensive coaches wanted to decline the penalty and take the result of the play and the referee had to explain that wasn't an option and why. No one had a clue what actually happened except the coaches and the referee crew and probably a few observing referees out there. I had a good chuckle.
