As an umpire, I probably say "wait for the whistle" at least 15 times per game, and sometimes a lot more if offenses are running no-huddle.
In 2-minute situations, I'll also let players know "clock starts on the whistle" or "clock starts on the snap" if I can, especially when we have a first down.
