If you think you have spam, don't give into the temptation of responding. Simply report it (different email programs have different means), as that ultimately makes spam filters stronger over time, and could prevent the trouble akin to Billy's.

I have all these names copyrighted and if anyone uses them without permission, they'll get a letter from my lawyers, Dewey, Cheatem and Howe.

Skippy Weaselpants has been able to track his ancestry back many generations to Sir Skippy Weaseltrousers of Great Britain. When the Weaseltrouser clan migrated to the US in the late 1800s, the people at Ellis Island changed the family's name to "Weaselpants". Making names more "Americanized" when people came over here was not unusual.
