Can a sub who is waiting at the table enter the game when a stoppage in play is caused by an Inadvertant Whistle?

Does the position of the ball on the court have an impact on the throw in spot other than an outbounds case? Is the general rule spot nearest where a violation occured?

Yes, a legal sub can enter during any clock stoppage.

Yes, the ball is put in play at the nearest spot OOB. Do you have an NFHS mechanics manual? There's a diagram. It maybe in the rules book as well.

Basically, anything in the paint, FT half circle and from the FT line corners to the end line corners goes to the end line. Everything else goes to the closest sideline.

I don't think there's any "general rule."

Sometimes, it's the spot of the ball; sometimes it's the spot of the violation / foul. (and, sometimes those are the same spot).

Correct, but the general default, especially for those with a screen name containing "rookie" is NFHS rules.

Same is true in the NBA, but I doubt the OP is working either an NCAA/NBA game if he's asking this question.

So noted, but thought I'd mention that because here in NY girls HS follow NCAA rules. Not sure if any other states do.
