Warning!! Danger!! Annual Off-topic Hockey Thread '07!! Beware!!

So who is the feared lower seed to be up against in the first round?

canuckrefguy

Probably the Calgary Flames or Minnesota Wild in the West, and maybe Tampa Bay or Pittsburgh in the East.

If Fleury gets hot in goal and Sid Crosby steps up in his first playoffs, the Pens will be tough to beat - they have just enough veteran grit to do some damage.

What do you think, Rut? 😀

The US screwed hockey up. We'll just keep planting our loonie in your backyard while winning on your home ice.

You can take it back if you like. You would have about as many people care about the game as you have right now.

Peace

Sweet. That was easy. And I didn't even need to press Staples' Easy button.

Dear Mr. Commisioner, Gary Bettman

As dictated by JRut, please hand over command of the NHL back to people who care deeply about the game, namely Canadians.

I think I know why you don't watch hockey. 😉

USA Hockey wrote
USA Hockey today announced that the International Ice Hockey Federation has appointed 17 officials from USA Hockey’s officiating program for IIHF-sanctioned events this season.

“We couldn’t be happier that our officials continue to be recognized at the international level,” said Matt Leaf, director of USA Hockey’s officiating education program. “These are some of the best officials we have and their selection is a testament to the success of our officiating program.”

Yup, Americans don't care about hockey. 😉

Probably for the same reason I don't.
Hockey in the States is like a television series on the Sci Fi channel. There aren't a ton of fans, but they're all rabid, loony, and just a bit dangerous.

I don't think he was bashing the series at all.

Just the people that watch them. 😀

Not bashing the series. I'm still pissed they killed Wash in the movie, and a second season is the least they can do for the fans now.

Now, when is Murphy going to be let in on Harry's secret?

I said the fans are few, not that the product was poor. 🙂

Now, what were we talking about again? Oh yeah, curling.

If we're going to talk curling, I'm in. Great sport! One of my favorite intramural events next to broomball. We always lost out to the grad students though. They had experience on their side....and we might have had a beverage or two before we showed up to play.

Yep...the Man Prayer...recited before every meeting at Possum Lodge.

Quite the interesting first round shaping up....

Flames are back from the dead.

Ditto Dallas.

The whiz kids and co. go down hard at the hands of Ottawa

Rangers sweep and the Bolts may surprise.

Some good action so far.

And if you cruise the fan forums, there's the usual b*tching about the officiating 😀

26 Year Gap

I still think Detroit will move along. Same with Vancouver. I think NJ-TB will go 7. NYR really wan't much below Atlanta in the standings--the result did not surprise me. They probably are pulling for TB, though. Hoping for Det-NYR final. But, then, I'm an Original 6 kinda guy.
