That's what I was thinking. You could also re-arrange the players on the bench. And you could tell him to part his hair on the other side.

My last game JV Boys. on a transition play late in the game my partner who is the new trail has a foul, rather than long switch, he reports and inbounds ball, the home head coach says to me,... Hey aren't you switching on every call? I answered and said "not on a long switch...no." He adds "...Oh I like his calls better down here..." Just broke my heart was all............😃

I know in 3-man we don't long switch, is it the same in 2 man? I haven't done 2-man in a HS game in a couple years and I remember I had a more senior partner back then who wanted to switch on EVERY foul regardless of where it was on the court. I'd call a foul in the back court, report, and here he comes doing his 70 ft dash to come rotate. I know I don't do this in any rec/aau type games that I normally do 2man. Just wondering.

We are supposed to long switch in two person mechanics.:rolleyes: Mark, you need to write a book on the best lines used by officials. I always laugh at your stuff.

Seriously, why would you even consider empowering a coach by doing that? 🙄 After that, when you give him the stop sign and he says PUT THAT DOWN! are you going to do that too?:eek: Don't worry coach, we'll rotate as soon as I call a foul on one of your players.

In CT we have been told to NOT do the long switch in 2 man. Keep the game moving...

Connecticut IAABO Mechanics:
Arms extended not closely guarded signal.
Point to floor for two-point field goal try.
No long switches when foul is called in the backcourt and there is no change of possession or direction.
Team members are not allowed to congregate at midcourt during introductions.
Coaching Box must be marked. If home coach and/or home management refuse to designate coaching box with tape, the home team will not use a coaching box for that game. However, the visiting team will be allowed a coaching box. Notify Board Secretary or Commissioner the next day.
