2007 MLB Umpiring Crews

edman42

Any idea when these are released.

mattmets

End of this month, beginning of March is when they came out last year.

edman42

Any ideas on the new crew chief(s).

All the old ones and a couple of new ones. Let's see: 64 = 21. I say 19 old ones and 2 new ones. That is my guess. Any idea if I am close, or what the REAL answer may be before the WUA announcement?

that, sir, is BAD math. 64 = 21?

how 'bout 68/4 = 17...

Rumor mill around here has one of our locals, Damien Beale, being brought up
from AAA.

I don't think Damien has worked double digit games in the majors. He might work some fill-in games, but I'd be very surprised if he went full-time this year.

No. Just someone who knows where to find the answer to a question.

blewthatone

Damien only has spring training so far. No Big League games. And the list of crews is out, I have it. It might not have been out publicly yet.

If blewthatone would count the number of crew chiefs on his NEW 2007 list and tell us; then we would all know the REAL answer.
Odds are now 17 (50%); 18 (25%); 19 (13%); 20 (7%); 21 (4%) and 16 or 22 (1%).

Back to who is on the NEW list. All of the old ones (see list above) plus a couple of new ones minus the old ones being replaced.

Crews have been posted on Joe West's website.

My $$ was on Cousins, who got a WS and ALCS assignment the past 2 seasons. They are probably reluctant to give a new crew chief opening to somebody who is that much older and nearer retirement.

I'm a fan of Crew 12. Two of my favorite umpires paired together -- Mark Carlson and Ted Barrett.

Why did Wendelstedt quit?

Harry Hunter Wendelstedt, Jr., has been retired since following '98. His son, Harry Hunter Wendelstedt III, was among the 25 new hires to the full-time staff after the whole '99 debacle. The younger Wendelstedt goes by his middle name to avoid confusion, yet, still honors his father by wearing his old uniform #.

It must be perfectly acceptable to worship MLB umpires here, just don't mention ever having worked with any, drop their names, or have one as an instructor in your association, or you get a beat down.😉

johnnyg08

Did Nelson take over for Brinkman? Brink did retire right??

I heard this afternoon that Ed Hickox and Tom Hallion were re-hired full time as of today.
