Can't is a strong word regarding my "travel competence".
I'm great, one of the best, at identifying the pivot foot at the start of a dribble, and ruling travel, or no travel, accordingly.
Identifying the pivot foot and ruling travel, or no travel, at the end of a dribble involving a jump stop, spin move, move to the basket, Euro-step, etc., is an area of weakness for me (my most difficult calls) that I continue to work on and try to improve through rule study, video, and live observations.
Am I competent? I believe so, competent, but not perfect, especially after working with guys (mostly in my subvarsity games, especially middle school games) that barely know if the basketball is stuffed, or inflated, and rule travels, or no travels, on how "weird" something looks.
At least I realize that I have room to improve, and still try to identify pivot feet, and not just look for "weird" stuff.
