All of you who call NFHS, have you seen the cover for the latest edition??

It shows a catcher and an umpire from a side view. However, you can tell that the umpire has horrible mechanics. He is lined up directly behind the catcher, with his nose at the level of the top of the catcher's helmet. Can't tell for sure if he has a chest protector on, but there is obviously no shoulder protection, and from where it would go over the top of the shoulders there is no sign of a protector.

Now then, is this the image that you want to send out to umpires/officials all over the nation? I guarantee two things about this umpire; a)he will rarely, if ever, get hit by a ball, and b)there is no way he can see the strike zone.

Some of us had the same conversation at our local umpire association meeting a few weeks ago...

I guess the photo editor is not an umpire.

Maybe he was using the Gerry Davis plate system. ;-)
