I'm in my first year as an official. I've made horrible calls and good ones but most of all I think I've found an outstanding way to be involved in the game I love. Really officiating a game is almost as fun as playing...but not quite cause I can't hit the QB..but I disgress.
Now comes the over presumptuous question. How do you move up in leagues? I know lots of time is involved and games for experience but I mean the logistics of moving up. Do you apply for Div III college conference? Do you just do High School and get "scouted" for the next level? How does it work? |

Good question. Like to hear some thoughts on this.
Here in NC, guys have encouraged me to apply to small NAIA/Div. III conferences (SAC 8, MEAC, etc.) Apparently they invite you to officiate some in spring practice and they scout you. Sometimes they sign you up, sometimes they tell you what you need to work on and come back next year. This is what I've been told anyway. |
