You called what?

I'm working a competitive 8th grade boys regional game. Better than most High schools in the area. 2 person crew.

After a time out on the baseline I give the ball to A1 to inbound. Side step and start my 5 sec count. B2 is playing the inbounder. I hear my partner whistle and then approach the scorers table. (note he's at about half court when I hand the ball to A1).

He calls delay of game for crossing the plain. I'm right there with the angle and he calls it from half court. I was shocked. How could he even see it let alone have a bteer angle than I.

He didn't even tell me what he called - I had to ask the scorers table on the next dead ball.

I so wanted to call him out but I just finished up and left.

what would you have done???

Called him out.

He's never going to get better if someone doesn't teach him.

Is he a new official? I'd have a conversation with him after the game no matter who he is.

I would have waited for the opportunity to call something out of my area right in front of him to see how he likes it.

No, not really.

BTW - was he wearing telescopic vision glasses?

Maybe a player in his area stepped out of bounds.

Call him over to the table, tell the table to erase the warning, tell your partner he has 2 seconds to decide if he is going to work the rest of the game by himself since you seem not to be needed. Walk away and go inbound the ball.

Uhh, can you tell I've had this happen to me too?
